Minimally Invasive Aesthetic Services
Clogged pores, skin inflammation, and sun damage can all contribute to a dull skin tone and issues with complexion, often causing the skin to take on a weathered appearance over the years. Fortunately, effective skin renewal is possible at our Kansas City practice without surgery or anesthesia. Our minimally invasive aesthetic treatments are performed in-office and can remove old, damaged skin cells from the superficial layers of the skin as well as unwanted pigment and redness, resulting in healthier, more radiant skin. Thanks to advances in the field of aesthetics, our minimally invasive technologies can help with overall skin tone and texture, reduce the appearance of pore size, and improve fine lines, acne scarring, melasma, broken capillaries, and other common skin imperfections.

SkinPen® Microneedling
Microneedling with SkinPen® is a process that involves replacing dead, unhealthy skin cells with the newer, healthier skin underneath. During this in-office treatment, the handheld SkinPen® device is used to make thousands of tiny microinjuries in the skin. As multiple passes are made, the microneedling treatment stimulates the skin’s natural healing process and catalyzes the growth of a softer, healthier complexion. This stimulates collagen production, as well as helps improve common skin concerns including:
- Appearance of pore size
- Redness and acne scarring
- Wrinkles and fine lines
- Discoloration, age spots, and hyperpigmentation
- Rough or dull skin texture
As a treatment that promotes the growth of new collagen, the effects of SkinPen® microneedling are often noticeable for months or years afterward. Results are typically maximized when microneedling is combined with the use of medical-grade skin care products.

BBL® Photorejuvenation
BBL® photorejuvenation, or a “BBL photofacial,” is a light-based laser treatment capable of improving the tone and texture of unhealthy skin. Short for “BroadBand Light,” BBL® therapy involves using Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) to reduce specific skin concerns:
- Sun damage
- Acne
- Redness and rosacea
- Brown spots, age spots, and mild melasma
In addition to addressing complexion, BBL® photorejuvenation can revitalize the skin by stimulating the production of new collagen and altering cellular gene expression. The result is more resilient, plump, and vibrant skin. This technology is safe, effective, and FDA-approved for non-surgical skin rejuvenation.

Who is a Good Candidate for BBL® Skin Rejuvenation?
BBL® is typically an excellent option for people who want to address visible signs of sun damage, aging, or uneven skin tone without surgery or significant downtime. Ideal candidates are those dealing with concerns like redness, broken capillaries, age spots, freckles, or a dull complexion. The treatment works best on lighter to medium skin tones, though a qualified provider can assess suitability for a wider range of skin types during a consultation.
Those interested in treatment should also be in generally good health, not currently pregnant, and not taking photosensitizing medications. Those with active skin infections, recent tans, or certain skin conditions may need to postpone treatment until their skin is in an appropriate state.
BBL® Treatment Preparation
A little preparation in advance goes a long way in ensuring safe, effective results. For at least two to four weeks before your appointment, avoid prolonged sun exposure and tanning beds, and apply a broad-spectrum SPF 30 or higher sunscreen daily. Discontinue any retinoids, exfoliating acids, or photosensitizing skincare products for several days prior, as directed by your treatment provider. Come to your appointment with clean, makeup-free skin. During your consultation, disclose your full medical history, current medications, and any supplements you take so our team can tailor treatment to your needs and minimize any risk.
Is There Downtime After BBL® Skin Rejuvenation?
After a BBL® photofacial, most people can return to their normal routines on the same day or the following day. Immediately after treatment, you may notice mild redness, warmth, or slight swelling in the treated area, similar to a light sunburn. This typically resolves within a few hours to a day. Pigmented spots often darken before they flake away over the course of about one week, but this is a normal and expected part of the skin’s renewal process. To protect your results and support healing, avoid direct sun exposure, skip intense workouts for 24 to 48 hours, and apply a gentle, fragrance-free moisturizer along with daily SPF. Most patients find the recovery process highly manageable and are pleased with the gradual improvement in their skin’s clarity and tone.

HALO® Laser Resurfacing
HALO® resurfacing treatments can erase years of sun damage by treating concerns and imperfections in multiple levels of the skin — both the epidermis and dermis. Unlike other aesthetic lasers that utilize only one wavelength during treatment, HALO® operates using both ablative and non-ablative wavelengths.
HALO® uses a non-ablative wavelength to treat the deeper layers of the skin, stimulating new collagen and elastin production and addressing deeper sun damage. The ablative wavelength used in HALO® treats the epidermis to resurface the skin through the creation of microchannels, which address textural concerns, appearance of pore size, and overall skin tone. This allows patients to enjoy a powerful skin resurfacing treatment that is customizable based on their desired goals and ideal recovery time.
Additionally, the hybrid wavelength offered by HALO® results in less recovery time than other skin resurfacing lasers. Typically, HALO® recovery is about one week long. You could greatly benefit from HALO® laser skin resurfacing if you’re interested in improving:
- Uneven skin tone and complexion
- Discoloration
- Sun damage and pigment
- Fine lines and wrinkles
- Age spots
- Acne scars
- Appearance of enlarged pores
Thanks to the versatility of HALO®, individuals who undergo HALO® resurfacing generally notice a brighter skin tone and a radiant, healthy glow as quickly as one to two weeks after their appointment. Patients report that the tone and texture of their skin is more vibrant, and excellent results are achievable even after only one to two treatments.
